Hot Kitchen

Hot Kitchens: Our 'Hot Kitchens' at Local Primary Schools are More Than Just a Place to Eat.

Providing students with proper nutrition makes a huge impact.

Not only do the children have the renewed energy and improved focus necessary for receiving a proper education but it also impacts the community as a whole.

Hot Kitchen: Transforming Cooking and Saving Lives

In the remote areas where we work, cooking has remained unchanged for thousands of years—families cooking on rocks or over open fires, if they have food at all. But now, for the first time, we are bringing innovative, energy-saving stoves to these communities. These stoves are the first of their kind in our target areas and represent a monumental shift in daily life.

Our stoves are designed to require significantly less firewood per meal, aiding in conservation efforts and reducing the burden on local resources. This not only helps protect the environment but also ensures that families can prepare meals more efficiently and safely.

Respecting Cultural Architecture

At L Squared, we build our Hot Kitchens using the highest quality materials while respecting the local culture. This approach ensures that our Hot Kitchens in Maasai Land are constructed in the traditional fashion of a Manyatta Village.

Manyatta Villages are central to Maasai culture, and L Squared deeply respects and supports this tradition. Our mission is to help the Maasai and other communities thrive by honoring their cultural heritage in our projects.

Nutrition is Essential

In areas heavily affected by poverty, the availability of nutritious meals can significantly impact a child's future.

By providing meals for the children, it alleviates the burden from the community, thereby conserving vital food resources.

Building Hot Kitchens

The L Squared team actively engages with local schools, undertaking the construction of kitchen facilities and the installation of modern stoves.

Previously, the preparation of food suffered from inadequate hygiene practices, compromising safety.

With this initiative, not only is food more readily available to students, but it is also prepared in a safer environment.
